The Bucket Ministry's Story

The Bucket Ministry shares God’s love through the gift of clean, safe, drinking water, serving under-resourced communities around the world with long-lasting water filter systems. By meeting a critical physical need, The Bucket Ministry builds relationships that open the door to faith in Jesus Christ and lasting transformation through intentional discipleship. Every effort is rooted in love, with clean water offered freely and without bias, allowing individuals and families to engage spiritually at their own pace.

Globally, the need is urgent. An estimated 785 million people lack access to clean drinking water, and more than 800,000 people die each year from water-related illnesses, including approximately 300,000 children under the age of five. The Bucket Ministry addresses this crisis through a proven four-step approach: conducting detailed community censuses and water testing, distributing water filters and anti-parasitic medicine, following up with recipient families regularly to ensure filter effectiveness and nurture spiritual growth, and ultimately connecting these families to local churches or trusted local leaders.

The ministry uses Sawyer hollow-fiber membrane filters capable of removing harmful pathogens for up to twenty years or one million gallons of water. Since 2019, The Bucket Ministry has distributed more than 160,000 filters and facilitated over 400,000 home discipleships, helping bring both physical health and spiritual hope to communities in need.
